In the Verga neighbourhood, on the edge of Kalamata toward Mount Kalathi, sits Kastraki-Meteoro: a restaurant with one of the most striking views over the Gulf of Messinia you’ll find in the area.

The menu centres on fish and meat: fresh fish, black angus, and black pig fillet, alongside salads and starters. Expect to pay around €50 per person — higher than an average taverna, but in line with the setting and the view.
Why you come here: the sunset
Kastraki-Meteoro sits high enough to take in the entire Gulf of Kalamata. Arrive before sunset and stay until dark: the city lights and the boats in the bay make the view just as worthwhile at night as during the day.
